In a study of childhood smoking and COPD 13 , there was little evidence of an association between age of smoking onset and COPD for persons who began smoking after 20 years, but COPD prevalence increased linearly for adults who smoked during childhood, approaching 30% for those who began smoking at 10 years of age (Supplementary file Figure 2)
