Tobacco smoking is the leading cause of preventable disease and death in Canada because of the increased risk of many types of cancer, respiratory disease, cardiovascular disease, and other health conditions.1 7 In 2022, 11% of Canadians aged 15 years or older were currently smoking tobacco (13% of males and 9% of females),8 and about 75% of them were smoking daily.8 Populations in Canada with high smoking prevalence include people who are single, separated, divorced, or widowed
